engage @ the studio
September kicks off the studio for its new season. We'll focus on three areas: engage, grow, and explore. Each designed to take artists, writers, and creatives deeper into community, into their relationship with God and with their creativity.
Beginning on Thursday, September 5 we'll launch into engage @ the studio. What does this mean, exactly? Using Francis Chan's excellent and super-artistic video teaching series BASIC, we'll explore in depth Biblical Truth - how it relates to our personal walk with God and how it fleshes out in our creativity, be it the visual arts or literary arts.
The month of September will be a time of engaging with His Truth in the context of a creative community. Will there be any art making? Not formally, but we'd like you to bring your sketchbook or journal and be prayerfully considering how God may be speaking to you then work it out through your art work. More will be explained on the first night, 9/5 @ 6:30pm in the coffee bar at Living Word Community Church.
I have a real sense that God desires the whole heart of His artistically gifted and creative people. He wants to speak to us through our art and speak of His Kingdom through our art. Being in alignment with Him first and foremost will give our artwork power that we can't attain on our own efforts. We must co-create with His Holy Spirit.
Come, engage @ the studio in September alongside other artists, writers, and creatives and let's see what God does in us as an artistic community!
Joy and peace,
deAnn

The Studio - New Look for the Fall
For those of you who've been around Infused Arts and The Studio, you know that come each fall, The Studio has a "new" look in some way. Beginning in May, God starts speaking to me about the direction for The Studio for the fall. This May was no exception. This fall, what can you expect to see that's different at The Studio? Let me try to lay it out...(I'm SO excited!!)
First, The Studio is moving to Thursday nights, 6:30-8:30pm, still in the coffee bar, beginning Sept 5.
Second, each month will be one of three specific categories:
- Engage - small group community/discussion of topics around faith and art
- Grow - spiritual formation through creating art
- Explore - play, new ideas, techniques, open studio time
Engage - artists, writers, creatives will meet at The Studio, watch a DVD or discuss topics from a book, that have to do with our walk with Jesus and how that intersects with our creativity and art work, writing. We will really engage with one another as a group of creatives in the context of Christian community and engage more deeply with the work of God in our lives and our art. Bring your sketchbooks too.
Grow - artists, writers, creatives will meet at The Studio and participate in a spiritually formative creative project that will cause you think deeply about your relationship with God. Grow months at TS are more about the process than the end product. This means it's really for anyone, no matter where you are on the artistic spectrum.
Explore - artists, writers, creatives will meet at The Studio and we'll have a mish-mash of cool and creative ideas, techniques, etc to explore. Open Studio's will also take place in the Explore months of TS. There will be lots of art being created! Explore months are also good for anyone, no matter where you are on the artistic spectrum.
Here's the schedule for The Studio:
- September - Engage
- October - Grow
- November - Explore - not meeting on 11/28 - Happy Thanksgiving!
- December - not meeting - Happy Holidays!
- January - Engage
- February - Grow
- March - Explore
- April - Engage
- May - Grow
I am so very excited about fall at The Studio! I believe God is going to move in powerful ways in each of our lives, transforming our hearts and renewing our minds to be more like Jesus.

There are some other off-the-charts exciting things happening within Infused Arts this next year as well, like a quarterly sacred space! Yes, you heard that right! It will be called The Well | Refresh, Revive, Renew. O God, You are my God, I seek You, my soul thirsts for You. Psalm 63:1. A space saturated with the presence of the Lord for prayer, worship, reflection. Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of Living Water will flow from His heart.’” John 7:38 NLT. I'm jumping out of my skin excited about The Well, a place to be refreshed in the presence of the Lord.
The Well is a ministry of Infused Arts, which means we, as a ministry community, own this and will make it happen. I'm looking for people who'd be interested in serving our church family's spiritual needs by partnering with me on The Well's installation team. More details to come on this!

Lastly, we'll be offering a Portrait Drawing Class on Saturdays in October. Cost is $25 and it's from 9am to 12pm. Spaces are limited. Very soon, a site will be set up for online registration for this workshop. I'll keep you posted!
As Christians and as artists, we need to be honing our skills, developing the talents God has entrusted us with. We plan to offer regular workshops that will help with this.
Okay, I think that's enough new news for now! Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!
See you at the August Night of Art - 8/15!!
joy and peace in the Lord,

TRUST::Prayer Wall
For years this prayer wall has occupied space in the main lobby of Living Word Community Church. It's a bit hidden down toward the Kid::Life entrance. Last week I gave it a new look with the help of artist, Ange Bentivegna, who painted the large "TRUST" circle which hangs in the center of the wall.
I'm making a commitment to start off each Monday morning reading the heartfelt prayers and lifting each person, need, concern, and praise up to the Lord in prayer.
This morning I unlocked my office door, tossed my bag onto the desk and headed out to the prayer wall. It was evident that many new prayers had been added since last week and was thankful that that people are seeking prayer and desire to be heard by God through the Holy Spirit, who intercedes for us.
Next Monday I'll have a box of tissues with me. As I read the vulnerable prayers of broken hearts I was overcome with compassion for our church family and their great need for comfort, healing, restoration, deliverance, and hope. I just stood there and sobbed uncontrollably. One that really touched my heart was from a pre-teen, I'm assuming, who was struggling with his/her parents constant fighting. This young person's heart poured deep sadness and confusion onto the colored paper and asked for peace in the times of conflict.
Another was asking God not to let her daughter die. One mom/wife was praying for her husband to come home to the family. Many prayers for healing from cancer and addictions. One simply stated, "Lord please heal my wife's cervical cancer. And if not, may Your grace be enough." I was undone. With a heavy heart, I held up to the Father each prayer on the wall and asked God to provide exactly what each person needed. It is a privilege to hold these people in prayer and to know that God will provide. In my spirit I feel a connection with each person, even though I don't know their names.
"O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge." Psalm 62:9
That is what the prayer wall is... a place to pour out our hearts before the Lord and take refuge beneath His wing.
Trust. Believe. Faith. Lord, in Your great mercy, give us more trust in You, the ability to believe with our whole heart and to grow deeply in our faith. Amen.
"He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise of our God. Many will see what He has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord." Psalm 40:3
I can't think of a better way to start off the week then interceding for my church family and their prayerful needs. Please visit the wall. Place a prayer upon it. Say a few prayers for those already there. Your heart will be blessed. Honestly.
Joy and peace,
deAnn Roe
