Powerful Stories of How God Uses Art & Artists

The January/February exhibit, Art = Ministry is up and looking amazing. The stories are even more amazing! Click here to read a copy of The Heart Behind the Art booklet and prepare to be blown away by how God uses surrendered artists to minister to our broken and searching world. Below are a host of photos of the exhibit.

Reminder: The Art Reception is Friday, January 29, from 6pm to 8pm in the Common Grounds Gallery. It's going to be an evening jam-packed with creativity! There will even be art tables for you to explore your artistic abilities. And of course, you'll hear from the artists, there will be a live painting demo, and our friend, Ramon will be here to stylize your name into graffiti. This is a family friendly evening. Snacks and coffee will be provided too. Hope you can make it!

art = ministry exhibit and reception

Ministry is allowing God to use your gifts and abilities for the benefit of others, so that they may experience the love of Jesus through you. Gifts and abilities differ from person to person, as God uniquely makes us all for His glory. Some people minister through teaching. Some minister through music. Some minister through hospitality. Some minister through listening. You get it—the list goes on and on. In what ways does God use you to minister to others? Something I discovered powerfully over the past several years is how God uses some to minister through their art. This exhibit has many beautiful examples of just that—stories of how God touches lives through surrendered artists and creatives.

Join us on Friday, January 29nd from 6pm to 8pm for the "art = ministry" exhibit artist's reception. Artists will share briefly how God uses their creativity to minster to others, (these stories are powerful!), and enjoy seeing examples of their art while sipping Seattle's Best coffee and munching on snacks with new friends and old friends. We will have art tables for you to explore your own creativity and even a few of what I'm calling, roaming artists. You'll have come to see what I mean! It will be a creatively-charged evening to say the least! And it's a family-friendly event.
Artist's participating in this exhibit and reception:
  • Becky Winand
  • Cliff Engle
  • Dave Weiss
  • David Roe
  • deAnn Roe
  • Joanne Hilliard
  • Kevin Henderson
  • Leigh Grames
  • Ramon Trevino
  • Sam and Kate Mylin
  • Travis Thompson
We have more than the 12 artists represented in this exhibit in Infused Arts who minister through their art. I’m proud of the creatives and artists at LWCC for having God’s heart and allowing Him to use them to impact the Kingdom for His glory! This is what Infused Arts is all about.

Loving God. Valuing our creativity. Making a difference.

“On earth as it is in Heaven.”

We hope too see you at the Art Reception on Friday, January 29 at LWCC.

All of us here at Infused Arts are beyond exctied about the January|February 2016 exhibit at Living Word Community Church, art = ministry. Refreshments and hot drinks will be enjoyed with conversation in a creative, Spirit-filled atmosphere. We hope you join us! I know you will be inspired and see why our creativity matters so much to God.

Names of God - Fall Exhibit

Hello Artists and Writers!

So, I’m excited to announce something pretty cool – something we’ve never done before at LWCC – a themed exhibit based on the Names of God. I found a very cool website that has listed all the Old Testament names of God along with a list with names of God that are descriptions of who God is, what He does and what He means to us, His beloved children. These names apply to either God the Father, the Son or the Holy Spirit – through the whole Bible. It’s quite a list, here’s the link. Watch the music video on the page too. Powerful!

What I envision for this exhibit is that you to prayerfully look over this list and if the Holy Spirit highlights one or more of them, look them up – study them, ask God about these names and reflect where you have experienced God in these ways. If you have a connection to one, begin to seek the Holy Spirit for wisdom and a creative idea – either a literal or non-literal depiction of that name or, better yet, an artistic rendition of how you have personally encountered that facet of God.

With a list so vast, I’m sure each of us who decide to participate, will have a different facet of who God is through these Biblical descriptions. What a cool visual this will be for our congregation!

Now for some details of how this will function:

·         Exhibit Show Dates: September & October 2015

·         What’s accepted: Wall hung art, 3D art (to fit in the display cabinets) and written reflections/poems (to be published in the gallery booklet, The Heart Behind the Art).

·         Deadline for art and written submissions: Sunday, August 16 (that gives you 6 month’s to create!)

·         Yes or No: I need to know if you plan to participate in this collective. Please let me know via email by the end of March.

·         I prefer you create a new piece of work rather than submitting something that you have done before that may “fit” the name. This is a prayer and artistic challenge…to reflect upon and purposefully create a new work of art at this time.

Prayerfully look over that list provided on the website (look up the scripture references too – I found one to be incorrect), then decide if you are up for the challenge! I believe this will be a powerful exhibit in two significant ways: 1) in your creating the art, reflecting on this particular name of God and how He shows you this side of Himself, praying as you paint this reflection of God’s nature and person... Your intimacy with the Lord will grow! And you will be transformed by His presence. 2) As the exhibit hangs in the multipurpose room of the Coffee Bar – in the Fall – the busiest time of year at the church, visually, people will “see God” and experience His powerful presence through each of your pieces. That will transform others. You can’t leave His presence unchanged. Guys – I’m super pumped to see what God will open up at LWCC as a result of this exhibit!!

So pray about this – and let me know if you are IN (email me before the end of this month). I’d like to know what name you chose, but I don’t need to know that by the end of March – that may take some time to ponder and pray over. I know, that is where I’m at and I’ve been thinking of this for months now!
If you say YES – I’ve got a special treat for you (not that I’m bribing you!! Haha!) but I’ve got some special gatherings planned for just those who are daring to do this project. The Lord is just now giving me some cool ideas for these gatherings… woo-hoo!

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Be in joy!

Kid::Life Exhibit

The late summer or fall exhibit for the past five years has been devoted to celebrating the budding young artists in our children’s ministry, kid::life. It’s a very anticipated exhibit! It’s very colorful and creative. With a bit of a challenging theme this year, “What a Prayer Looks Like To Me,” the kids did a great job translating visually what prayer looks like.

The KidsArt 6.0 exhibit is on display Sunday, November 3 through Sunday, November 24. Let us encourage these young artists to use the creative gift given to them by the Master Creator, our God. May their artwork touch you and bring a smile to your face and heart.

Grace & peace ~
