Pathway to the Arts Exhibit

Pathway to the Arts exhibit is on display at Living Word Community Church from now to June 29.

These beautiful paintings were created by individuals in the Pathway program of the Jessica and Friends Community.

Pathway Services is a faith-based, community-integrated, day program providing lifelong learning opportunities for autistic and intellectually disabled individuals, 18 years of age and older.

The artistic process is a very specific, art-based therapy, which stimulates immediate attention, memory and behavior improvements. Kim Martin works one-on-one with our individuals to create beautiful paintings through this directed painting technique. The individuals experience a sense of achievement and significance, which is often lacking in the lives of individuals with unique challenges. Their paintings serve as their forever reminders of the precious people the Lord created them to be.

Visual Psalms - March at The Studio

What's your favorite psalm, or verse(s) from a psalm?

March @ The Studio is inspired by a book I bought my daughter called "PSALMS for Young Children" by Marie-Hélène Delval. The rich, yet simple illustrations made me think we should do this at The Studio.

The psalms are very descriptive and evoke images in my heart, as I'm sure they do for you as well. We will spend the first three Thursdays in March bringing our favorite psalm verses into the visual using soft charcoal pastels OR watercolors (3/6, 3/13, 3/20). Fee is $5, which covers 2 pieces of Strathmore Pastel papers and use of soft pastels OR one piece of Strathmore Watercolor paper and use of watercolor paints and brushes. (Watercolor paper is SO expensive.) Bring your own supplies and there is no fee.
Between now and March @ the Studio, be in the psalms. Ask God to speak to you through them and then come prepared to bring your favorite verses into life.

Please RSVP via email to deAnn so we have enough supplies.

Also NOTE:

OPEN STUDIO is Thursday March 27 - $5 for canvas panel (11x14) and use of all art supplies. Come and let your creativity soar!

Exploring Oil Pastels - Jan@The Studio

Tomorrow night kicks off The Studio for 2014! We will be exploring with Oil Pastels on 1/16, 1/23 and 1/30 from 6:30-8:30pm in the Common Grounds Coffee Bar at Living Word Community Church. Fee is $5 to cover the materials. Please email deAnn to reserve your spot!

See you there!
