There's a particular person I work with here at Living Word who is a phenomenal stick-figure artist. His identity will remain anonymous in order to protect him from huge masses of groupies and the paparazzi, of course.
If you're already an established stick-figure artist or just starting out, please check out this link and practice practice practice way! Allow your creativity to flow like milk and honey! And, it's just a fun thing to do when you need a break from the charts and graphs you are working on...all that left brain stuff. Exercise your right brain a little today and you'll see just how much more productive you'll be.
enjoy!

How The Greats Used Color
Color Expert (from the U.K) Paul Pearce will be talking at The Studio Wednesday night, 3/21, as we continue our series: The Significance of Color.
He'll talk about how some of the great artists used color, Rembrandt being just one of many. He'll also cover "interiors" regarding color. You don't want to miss him! Oh, the British accent...
P.S. Even if you didn't register and pay for The Studio this month, feel free to come tomorrow night and hear Paul's presentation in the coffee bar from 6:30 - 8pm, 3/21.

Writers: 7 Must Read Books as per Don Miller
"If you read these books, your writing will improve to the point people who read your work will begin to comment on how well you write. Sometimes the difference between an okay writer and a great writer is simple. I’ve read quite a few books on writing and here is, in my opinion, the collection every writer should have in their library." Donald Miller from his blog post, "Read These Seven Books, and You'll Be a Better Writer."
The Infuse[d] Arts ministry library has four of the seven Don recommends: Bird by Bird, The War of Art, On Writing Well, and On Writing by Stephen King. Remember you can borrow from the ministry library anytime, just email me!

May Writers' Retreat
Boy, I feel really bad about having to cancel the March Writers' Retreat. For the handful of you that were able to attend I hope you keep that writing-date on your calendar and use those priceless hours to meet with God through the gift of writing that He's given you.
I've scheduled the May Writers' Retreat for Saturday, 5/12 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We'll meet in the Life Center then break out into our times of writing. Pack a lunch and bring your laptop &/or writing notebook. If you have a project you are working on, bring that or if you'd prefer more guidance, writing prompts will be given.
Also, we are in the process of putting together a Writing Critique Group. Stay tuned for more info on that!

Color Maze
Tonight at The Studio was awesome.
Each person got a large color wheel and Steph had a great presentation about how to use the color wheel as an artist's tool. Then everyone was given a 6"x6" wrapped canvas and we had to pick a color scheme that resonated with us. We used watercolors, chalk and oil pastels, and colored pencils to create them. Some outlined their work with a shapie for a cool look.
The above photo is a sample of some finished canvases.
Next week at The Studio, Paul Pearce - British color expert extroidinaire will share his knowlege with us. Don't miss it! Even if you didn't sign up for The Studio - please feel free to drop in next week, 3/21, for Paul's talk.
Here are a few more photos from tonight's Studio:
See you next Wednesay at The Studio!

Writers' Retreat
Our first Writers' Retreat in January was a big hit so we are offering one again this month.
Maybe you are working on a project and you just need to step out of the busyness of your life for a few hours so that you can write. Perfect, the Writers' Retreat is for you.
On the other hand, maybe you feel the desire to write but would rather have prompts given to you. Perfect, the Writers' Retreat is for you.
If God has laid on your heart a passion to communicate via writing - exploring your world, making sense of it, where you see God at work in your life, recording family history, memoir, fiction or non-fiction writing...the bottom line is - God laid that passion on your heart. What, now, will you do about it?
The Writers' Retreat is a place of encouragement, a time carved out for you to be in the presence of your Creator and to practice the gift of writing that He's given you, to be in a community of other writers' of faith, and hopefully, a place of inspiration.
Coffee, juice, and some breakfast sweets will be provided in the morning. Pack your lunch for the afternoon.
Please RSVP via email or call deAnn at 717-755-0089 x126.
Hope to see you on March 24th!
